What progress? Any hope?

We are now a quarter of the way through the 21st Century and I am wondering, how is humanity doing?

Looking around me, I see two distinct strands of development across society:

The mainstream is still set on its path of self-destruction: the natural world, even time, is a commodity, a resource to be controlled. Faith and trust in technology, despite its constant failures, seems to be ever deepening. Fake news and hate seems to predominate much of society. Forget hope: if it’s not something you can buy or subscribe to, it isn’t real.

However, if you know where to look, and you do so with an open mind and an open heart, there is another strand of humanity (perhaps those with an activated extra DNA strand) who have seen through at least some of the above and are willing and able to commit to …. well, consciously evolve!

Over recent years I have seen an increase in the number of individuals and organisations who are aware of the issues facing our species and the planet and who are offering a wide range of opportunities and ways of reconnecting to our own inner selves, to each other and to Gaia.

Whilst this is encouraging and gives some hope, the numbers committed to consciously evolving is still very small as a percentage of the human population. Personally I still feel we are doing far too little far too late, and in some of the conversations I have (with like minds and kindred spirits) we agree that the state of humans society and of our planet is likely to get much worse before it gets any better. And it may even be that our planet throws us off before we are able to live in harmony with it, and ourselves, and each other.

If that is the case, so be it. Perhaps that is one of our biggest lessons: to be able to detach from the future, to be able to truly, fully, surrender to our fate, in the inner knowledge that “our will be done”.

And, in so surrendering, so we find a deep peace and connection to the here and now.

We know that it is impossible to change those who are not willing to change. So trying to influence the mainstream is merely creating a rod for our own back. But we can, individually and collectively with like minds and kindred spirits, continue our personal growth process. Individually we can consciously evolve … and many of us are so doing. Thank you!

  1. Yes, entirely my way of thinking. I have entirely given up imagining the world will change. Maybe it will, maybe not. But as you say the road to peace is simple quiet acceptance. With any luck, it might catch on, one fine day.
