On the fourth day of Christmas my true love gave to me …
… four Beatles singing
Or perhaps Cliff Richard or Michael Bublé or your local community choir … or Bing Crosby. Whatever your era or musical taste, to be able to listen to your favourite performer can cheer up the darkest moment.
Ideally it will be a live performance, with all the extra excitement that comes with it. But just to play their album and receive their talent, listen to their voices and musical skills, is to remind ourselves of the power of song. An ageless gift.
Coincidentally, I’m rather late to it but better late than never, I have just become a fan of Spotify. From first releases in the 1950s through to the latest musical talent, it’s all there. And you don’t even need a gift of a subscription to enjoy it!
