The nature of Time

As I left my house this morning to catch the bus into work, I was greeted with a lovely view of an almost full moon above the rooftops. As I waited at the bus stop I was able, even in those few minutes, to notice it progress across the sky.

In a lunar month it will be back again. But not in a calendar month.

As the bus approached Bristol, I was greeted by the sun rising above Clifton Down. A personal experience of sunrise makes even a commute to work a pleasure.

Interesting though, a few weeks earlier, I had a similar experience on a later bus. Within those few weeks sunrise had shifted by 20 minutes.

My experiences of the moon and sunrise this morning were complemented by a wonderful glistening frost across pretty much everything. Humanity is still in the grip of winter although, being the 7th of February, in the pagan and Celtic calendars, it is now Spring…
